Indian Hindu Politician: "Karbala’s Sacrifice is a Living Lesson for Humanity"

An Indian Hindu Member of Parliament has delivered a powerful message on the occasion of Muharram, stating that the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S.) is not just for Muslims, but an eternal message for all of humanity.

AhlulBayt News Agency: As the sacred month of Muharram begins, a global atmosphere of mourning and reflection takes shape. This is the month when the ultimate example of humanity, sacrifice, and principles—Karbala—is remembered across the world.

On this occasion, Tanuj Punia, a Hindu MP from Barabanki district in India, issued a deeply heartfelt, inspirational, and justice-filled message that is resonating among the masses as a beacon of love, patience, and conviction.

MP Tanuj Punia emphasized that the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S.) is not limited to Muslims alone but is a timeless message for all humanity. He stated that Imam Hussain showed the world that even when faced with the might of oppressive forces, it is better to give one's life than to bow before tyranny.

He specifically highlighted the Barabanki district, home to both the revered Dewa Sharif shrine of Sufi saint Haji Waris Ali Shah and the ancient Mahadeva Shiva temple, as a living example of India’s Ganga-Jamuni culture. The soil of Barabanki exudes the fragrance of love, brotherhood, and justice. That is why, during this sacred time, a strong voice rises from this land—one in support of peace, humanity, and truth.

He further said: “Muharram is not just a month of mourning, but also of learning. Karbala teaches us that standing firm on principles is the true meaning of life. Justice, love, and brotherhood are the highest forms of religion.”

MP Punia called upon people of all faiths, communities, castes, and classes to walk the path of Hussain together. He concluded with these words:

“In this sacred month, we must pledge to stand against oppression, support the oppressed, and uphold the values of humanity.”
